Case Western Reserve University sophomore left-handed pitcher Nick Denove was named the University Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week after leading the Spartans to a 3-1 win over the 10th-ranked College of Wooster with a complete-game effort on Sunday.
Denove flummoxed the Scots' bats throughout the game, allowing just five hits and striking out a career-high nine batters, while failing to walk a batter. He retired the first 10 batters he faced in the game, before allowing an infield hit with one out in the fourth inning, and did not surrender a run until there were two outs in the ninth inning.
