Shields, Timely Hitting Lead CWRU Baseball Past DePauw, 11-3

GREENCASTLE, IN - A strong starting performance by Jake Shields (Hamilton, Ohio/Ross Senior) and timely hitting paced the Case Western Reserve baseball team to an 11-3 win over host DePauw University.

Shields threw five innings of five-hit ball, yielding just one run and striking out six to move to 4-2 this season. 

The Spartans scored a run in the first inning when senior second baseman Kerrigan Cain (Hartville, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) doubled home senior third baseman Andrew Gronski (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson). They added another run in the second inning on a two-out, run-scoring double by sophomore leftfielder Josh Neal (Gaithersburg, Md.
