Laios Earns Second Career All-American Honor on Day 1 at NCAA Championships

Case Western Reserve University graduate student Cassandra Laios earned her second career All-American honor as she placed seventh in the women's discus throw on the first day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Competing in her first outdoor national meet, Laios was seeded 15th in the women's discus throw with a school-record mark of 45.11 meters. She finished seventh in the event with a toss of 44.41 meters.

Laios becomes the first Spartan woman to earn an All-American honor during the outdoor season since former Spartan Erin Hollinger finished fourth in the high jump at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
