Case Western Reserve University senior left-handed pitcher Nick Denove was named the University Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, after turning in a dominating start during the Spartans' 11-1 win over John Carroll University on Saturday afternoon.
Denove earned his first win of the season in the game, allowing just one run on six hits over seven innings. He struck out a career-high 10 batters and did not issue a walk, while throwing just 91 pitches in the game. After allowing a run on three hits in the first inning, he gave up just three more hits over the next six innings of shutout work.
