CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton wore a black shirt with a gold “Superman’’ emblem under his pads during last week’s Fan Fest at Bank of America Stadium.
The NFL MVP truly believes on the football field he is the man of steel.
So do his teammates and coaches, who constantly remind that as Newton goes, so go the Panthers.
But according to an ESPN survey of 42 NFL insiders -- 10 general managers, five head coaches, seven offensive coordinators, five defensive coordinators, eight personnel evaluators and seven other coaches/executives -- “Superman’’ is a Tier 2 quarterback.
