The first, more exciting wave of free agency is over, and the Carolina Panthers made quite a few splashes. The emphasis in free agency was clear: improve the trenches on both sides of the ball and provide more weapons on offense. The Panthers spent a good amount of money on those free agent signings, but Spotrac still has the Panthers with about $17 million in cap space. As they cut some of the fringe players whose contracts aren’t guaranteed (camp bodies, long shots, etc), that number could increase. Keep in mind, about $10 million needs to be earmarked for the incoming rookie class.
