The team was in a tough spot with team golden boy Graham Gano struggling to recover from an injured plant leg that ultimately saw him placed on season-ending injured reserve. Because he was placed on IR before the season had officially begun, he is ineligible to return at any point in 2019. Enter Joey Slye.
