The Carolina Panthers officially kick off their preseason in Chicago against the Bears. The starters likely won’t play much if at all (Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly have already been ruled out). Still, there are a few names to watch who could have an impact.
While the Panthers did select Will Grier in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, backup Kyle Allen will get the start for this first game. This isn’t too terribly surprising considering he started the last game of the 2018 season and won a game (something the Panthers hadn’t done for weeks).
