The 2021 draft may well be a different experience for Panthers fans. Historically the Panthers have traded up much more than trading back. Unfortunately when the Panthers ‘go get their guy’ more often than not we are left disappointed; the Jeremy Chinn trade up in 2020 a recent exception. Just off the top of my head, Jeff Otah, Everette Brown and Devin Funchess are all players the Panthers paid a premium to attain.
Matt Rhule explains why he also prefers more picks later in the draft than fewer picks earlier in the draft:
“We’re like the 30th or 31st team in terms of most picks,” said Rhule.
