Following dominant performances by the first team offense in the first two preseason games, the so-called “dress rehearsal” didn’t go as planned. After improving from week one in Baltimore to Tennessee, the Panthers’ offense seemed to regress upon their return to Charlotte. Two weeks remain before the regular season opener in Denver and hopefully the preseason performance witnessed tonight doesn’t reappear.
Carolina was unable to generate any offense in the first half. The Panthers had nine possessions, culminating in five punts, three interceptions, and one failed fourth down conversion. Quarterback Cam Newton sat for a series at one point, prior to returning on the Panthers’ next possession.
