The Carolina Panthers lost 9-0 in the season finale at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ending their disastrous 2023 campaign with a 2-15 record. Baker Mayfield, who floundered in Carolina last year, returned to Charlotte to beat his previous team, exceed the 4.000-yard passing mark with 28 touchdowns, and lock up the NFC South title for the 9-8 Bucs. It was a fitting end to a horrible season (more on the word “horrible” later).
