Panthers TE Greg Olsen placed on injured reserve

Charlotte, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have placed All-Pro tight end Greg Olsen on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to repair a broken right foot, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

Olsen suffered the injury in the second quarter of Carolina’s 9-3 victory against Buffalo on Sunday.

The Pro Bowl tight end is eligible to return after eight weeks on injured reserve. Olsen can return to practice in six weeks, according to the team’s official website.

Olsen’s injured reserve designation will snap his streak of 160 consecutive regular season games played. He has not missed a regular season game since making his National Football League debut on Sept.
