In an effort to add more of a traditional running back to the roster, the Panthers have signed former Broncos RB C.J. Anderson to a one-year contract. The 27 year-old rushed for more than 1,000 yards last season behind a mediocre offensive line, on an offense that had very little stability or production in the passing game. The 5’ 8” 225lbs back will compete (and likely win) the 2nd RB spot behind projected starter Christian McCaffrey.
It speaks to the state of the RB position when a 1,000+ yard rusher is still available in May, and further can be signed to a one-year contract for what is likely close to the veteran-minimum.
