After spending much of Day 2 of the NFL Draft trading down and acquiring picks, the Panthers have used one of those picks on Shi Smith out of Sakerlina. After losing Curtis Samuel to free agency, the Panthers have now double dipped at the wide receiver position. Yet another Senior Bowl alum, Shi Smith was the top receiver for the Gamecocks last season (though that’s not a high bar, sorry Brad) with 57 catches for 633 yards and four touchdowns. He was also productive on kickoff returns, averaging just shy of 16 yards per run back.
