Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson announced his intention to sell the franchise in late December following allegations of workplace misconduct. The NFL launched an investigation of their own and although findings have yet to be revealed, the organization is moving forward and will operate under new ownership in 2018, if everything goes according to plan.
The transition of power for businesses worth billions of dollars can take some time but the NFL hopes to have a potential candidate in place by their spring meetings. Taking place in Atlanta from May 21-23, the approval of a new owner requires a three-fourths vote from current league leadership.
