Historically, under Gettleman, the Panthers have been methodical in the signing of players during the free agency period. During his era, fans have not seen the signing of big-name players such as Michael Bennett, Jeremy Maclin, or Jared Odrick.
In fact, fans have witnessed some things they never imagined, such as the day that wide receiver Steve Smith was released from the team, and went to play elsewhere.
But through it all, Gettleman has explained his motives, most of which have been in an effort to bring Carolina’s salary cap from the red, and back into the black.
