Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney received a rare opportunity in regards to any position with an NFL franchise. Relieved of his duties in 2012, he was hired again to the same job after serving as an interim during this past season.
Inheriting a roster just two years removed from a Super Bowl appearance, Hurney has been responsible for bringing a majority of those pieces to Carolina. Either through the NFL Draft or by trade, Hurney assisted in building a foundation of now veteran contributors.
Defensive end Julius Peppers was the first draft choice for Hurney during his initial stint in the role of general manager, the second overall selection that year.
