When the Carolina Panthers take on the Pittsburgh Steelers for their fifteenth consecutive preseason finale, both team’s stars are not expected to play. However, if quarterback Cam Newton needs another series in order to feel comfortable starting the regular season, Carolina could dress their offensive starters in an effort to protect him.
Regardless, if Newton plays it likely won’t be for more than a series similar to last week in Jacksonville. With rain in the forecast, putting Newton and the first-team offense on the field in anything less than ideal conditions for a preseason game would be risky.
