The Carolina Panthers didn’t force a running back selection in the 2018 draft, but their patience was rewarded when they signed C.J. Anderson a week after. It’s not common for a 1000 yard rusher from the previous season to be available in May, but Anderson was released late in the off-season.
On the surface, Anderson is an ideal rushing partner with Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey’s rushing ability between the tackles is a question mark, but Anderson’s strengths are his elusiveness between the tackles and running after contact.
Anderson ran a variety of run concepts at Denver last season.
