Monday Morning Optimist (Friday Edition): Panthers’ first team impressive, second team falls to Ravens

Despite a few rough spots, the Panthers have some positives to take away from last night’s loss to the Ravens.

The Panthers opened the preseason with a Thursday evening tilt with the Baltimore Ravens, and it was evident from the start the main mission would be to shuffle the first team players to the side lines as soon as possible. The major guys—Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis, etc.—were off the field after a single series.

The opening series on both offense and defense were positive experiences for the Panthers, as Newton led the offense on a meticulous drive that ended with a Graham Gano field goal.
