Kelvin Benjamin says 60 points is possible if Panthers clean up mistakes

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Kelvin Benjamin didn’t hesitate when asked what the Carolina Panthers could have done on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers if they hadn’t committed four turnovers.

“That could have been 60, maybe 70-something points on the board,’’ the wide receiver said after a 46-27 victory.

When told that would be strong, like something you’d see in college football, Benjamin smiled and said, “real strong.’’

He also said it was possible.

“But you’ve got to be mistake-free,’’ Benjamin added.

The most points by one team in a regular-season NFL game, in case you’re wondering, was 72, by the 1966 Washington Redskins.
