Kawann Short Franchise Tag Signing in Limbo

In an expected move the Carolina Panthers placed the franchise tag on defensive tackle Kawann Short for the upcoming 2017 season. Short recorded six sacks last season after managing 11 in 2015 but he remains an integral part of the Panthers front-seven.

The second offseason in which Carolina has used the tag after famously rescinding their offer to cornerback Josh Norman a year ago. Following, Norman signed a five-year, $75 million deal making him the highest paid cornerback in the league.

Back in January, Short told Bill Voth of Black and Blue Review that he would sign the franchise tag in order to remain in Carolina.
