Is Carolina Panthers defensive end Stephen Weatherly just a pass rushing specialist?

The Carolina Panthers signed defensive end Steven Weatherly in free agency on March 23 to (hopefully) bolster their pass rush in 2020.

Here’s a brief rundown of Weatherly’s career before landing in Carolina:

Stephen Weatherly, DE

Height: 6 feet 5 inches
Weight: 265 lbs
Arms: 34 1/2 inches
Hands: 10 1/4 inches

Weatherly was a seventh round draft pick out of Vanderbilt in 2016. In four seasons he has mainly served as a rotational pass rushing specialist and special teams player. That is no surprise since he played behind one of the best starting edge defender tandems in the NFL in Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen.
