Christian McCaffrey, who left Sunday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth quarter, has been placed in the reserved/injured list with a high ankle sprain.
McCaffrey will be eligible to return after three weeks, which would fit his optimistic timeline for recovery. High ankle sprains typically take four to six weeks for a player to return from, but the Panthers running back has stated that he wants to beat that timetable.
The injured reserve concept in the NFL works a little bit differently this year.
