Never before has a defense that ranked so highly invested three draft picks in CBs. While the pass defense will probably regress slightly on the stat sheet, the message is fans have no reason to worry...much.

The reason for the optimism that seems unwarranted considering the amount snaps to be consumed by rookies:

Since the beginning of the DVOA era in 1989, roughly one team per year has invested this much draft capital at defensive back in a single draft. There have been 13 such teams in the past decade which selected three defensive backs in the first five rounds.
