Baltimore — The Carolina Panthers dropped their first preseason game of 2016 Thursday night in Baltimore, 22-19, against the Ravens at M&T Stadium.
Carolina’s first-team offense and defense played sparingly in the first half, which allowed players fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster to receive additional reps.

Brenton Bersin, who has been up-and-down from the 53-man roster and practice squad since 2012, made his claim for a roster spot Thursday night.
The former Wofford College Terrier led the team with five catches and 69 yards, and he was targeted on a team-high six plays.
