NFL kickers have never had a bigger impact on the outcome of the game. The longer extra points in the NFL this season have seen a drop in successful attempts, and a couple kickers have already lost jobs because of it.
Kickers don't get much respect in the NFL. The quarterbacks are the Golden Boys who get all the credit, but the only time a fan base discusses a kicker is when he is not getting the job done. The Steelers' Josh Scobee and the Texans' Randy Bullock are now unemployed largely due to the inability to make extra points (as well as late-game, clutch field goals in Scobee's case).
