The second-year cornerback opened the win over the Vikings by grabbing Carolina's first interception by a cornerback in 2017 and added a season-high nine tackles. More importantly for Worley, he played 66 snaps, 57 more than his rotation-mate Kevon Seymour.
“We've kind of waited to see who's going to take the bull by the horns,” head coach Ron Rivera said Monday, “and I think the last couple of weeks, Daryl's really stepped up.”
Worley began the year as an unquestioned starter across from fellow 2016 draftee James Bradberry, but when a strained pectoral muscle kept him out of the Week 4 win in New England, Seymour did well enough filling in to remain in the defense’s plans.
