Carolina Panthers interestingly test available quarterback

The Carolina Panthers have a franchise quarterback in Cam Newton but following two (throwing) shoulder surgeries in less than two years time, uncertainty looms for the immediate future and beyond. By all accounts Newton has worked incredibly hard to rehab from his latest procedure and appears on track to participate in training camp but his long-term health remains an issue.

To potentially prepare for life without Newton, general manger Marty Hurney selected Charlotte native Will Grier in the third-round this past April. He joins Taylor Heinicke, who won the backup position last year during training camp and the preseason, plus Kyle Allen, the last starting signal caller to win a game for the Panthers.
