CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One had to figure when the Carolina Panthers selected quarterback Cam Newton with the first pick of the 2011 draft that -- barring a career-ending injury -- he one day would own every team record held by Jake Delhomme.
The franchise isn’t that old, after all.
And the list of successful quarterbacks is very short.
It didn’t take long for the quarterback who likes to think of himself as "Superman" to surpass Delhomme for passing yards (22,171), attempts (2,985), completions (1,744) and touchdowns (138).
With a win on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints -- or sometime this season -- Newton will become the winningest quarterback in team history.
