‘If a tree falls in the forest but nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?’. A phrase often used to describe the ineffectiveness of unheard thoughts and opinions. Embodying the complete opposite of that phrase is Panthers’ quarterback, Cam Newton. No matter what he says or does, positive or negative, his critics come calling.
Prior to camp beginning, Newton assigned himself the task of not throwing an interception to linebackers Luke Kuechly or Thomas Davis. Up until Sunday, he had achieved that goal, but then Kuechly struck. On a forced pass intended for receiver Kelvin Benjamin, Kuechly broke underneath the route shattering Newton’s desired accomplishment.
