The Carolina Panthers named Marty Hurney as the full time General Manager earlier this week. The decision was not surprising. The new owner could ultimately fire Hurney when he or she purchases the team, so it made sense to keep Marty through this draft cycle.
As General Manager of the Panthers from 2002-2012, Hurney drafted 81 players. With the combine approaching next week, I wanted to analyze some of the positional tendencies Hurney implemented during his first stint in Carolina. Of course, Hurney could potentially have changed his draft philosophies during his four and half year hiatus.
