With the 2017 NFL Draft still nine months away, for many this is too early to talk about draft prospects. However, for Panthers' fans that also are college football fans, it is never too early. This week, we will look into college football's best defensive tackles.
In the 2016 NFL Draft, NFL teams selected 14 defensive tackles among the first 100 picks, more than any other year in modern history. The Panthers got in on the action, selecting Vernon Butler with the 30th pick.
1. Malik McDowell, Michigan State
The five-star recruit finished with 15 tackles, 4 1/2 TFL and 1 1/2 sacks in a rotational role as a true freshman.
