Why the Carolina Hurricanes Might Not Trade a Defenseman After All

By Lyle Richardson, Featurd

Following a 4-0-1 record in their opening five games of this season, the Carolina Hurricanes suffered three straight defeats last week.

A lack of scoring punch, especially with the man advantage, was a contributing factor. After tallying 22 goals in their first five games, the Hurricanes found the back of the net just four times in their last three contests. Entering this week, their power-play percentage is a league-worst 6.7 percent.

The recent cooling of the Hurricanes offense could increase calls for management to draw upon their blueline depth for trade bait to land a scoring forward.
