Varlamov shuts down Canes in 5-3 loss to Avalanche

The Carolina Hurricanes started off a two game road trip against Western Conference competition in a rough way with a loss to the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center on Nov. 2. Carolina nearly put up 60 shots on the Avs goalie Semyon Varlamov while he only let in three goals. It was a franchise record for shots on the road for the Canes.

Victor Rask notched the first goal of the game, which has been a huge key for success this season. Elias Lindholm and Derek Ryan got the other two goals, but Varlamov shut the Canes down on every other attempt they had.
