There’s not a lot going on in the NHL this weekend, thank goodness we have a passel of chores down on the farm to keep us busy.
Thanks to shorthanded goals by Nicolas Roy and Haydn Fleury, the Charlotte Checkers took a 3-2 series lead in the AHL Eastern Conference Finals with a 4-1 win over the Toronto Marlies Friday night. Steven Lorentz and Clark Bishop also scored for the Checkers, and Dustin Tokarski made 40 saves on 41 shots. The Checkers are now one win away from advancing to the Calder Cup Final as the series shifts back to Charlotte Sunday night.
