With his first start of the season, Cam Ward received a lot of attention from Canes’ fans. The 48 save performance made almost everyone happy–WRONG.
The most vocal fans–on social media and other fan sites–were all disappointed. They were disappointed that Ward got the start. They were disappointed that he let in the first and third goals. Mostly the were disappointed that a goalie named Cam Ward still plays for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Some of this makes sense. Ward has been the face of the franchise for more than a decade, even more so since Eric Staal left.
