The Canes, following up a road win over the Edmonton Oilers, put together their most complete game of the season Thursday with a 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames at the Saddledome in Calgary.
Goalie Scott Darling earned his third win of the season, robbing ageless Jaromir Jagr of a goal in the third period and making some other sparking stops among his 24 saves.
Jeff Skinner and Justin Williams scored — Williams with his first goal in his return to Carolina, and the game-winner — as the Canes (3-1-1) kept the Flames scrambling in their zone with a strong forecheck while limiting the Flames’ offensive chances until the final minutes.
