The 2014 NHL draft for the Carolina Hurricanes saw the organization take 7 players. The Canes were coming off a lackluster 36-35-11 season and missed the playoffs yet again. With the roster devoid of talent the Canes were looking to strike gold and help what was then a struggling roster.
The 2014 draft contained players such as Aaron Ekblad, Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett and Leon Draisaitl just in the top 5. Unfortunately for the Canes, they didn’t have a top 5 pick which likely could have helped accelerate the rebuilding process. However, the Canes went on to have a really solid draft that has put multiple players on the NHL roster.
