Red Wings end Hurricanes’ winning streak

Carolina Hurricanes coach Bill Peters had a decision to make Friday: Cam Ward or Scott Darling in net.

Peters went with Darling as his starting goalie against the Detroit Red Wings and the Canes were beaten 4-1 at PNC Arena, ending a three-game winning streak.

Ward shut out of the Montreal Canadiens 2-0 on Thursday, and Peters played it coy Friday after his team’s morning skate when asked about his starter. And while Darling had some good moments and good saves, he was outplayed by Wings goalie Petr Mrazek, who allowed a power-play goal to Sebastian Aho in the first period and nothing else.
