Elliott Teaford of OC Register: The Anaheim Ducks and goaltender John Gibson have agreed on an eight-year contract extension with a salary cap hit of $6.4 million.

The 25-year old Gibson was entering the final year of his three-year deal which he’ll make $2.3 million. He would have been an RFA after this season.

“I believe in John Gibson, as does everyone in the organization,” Ducks general manager Bob Murray said in a statement. “This is obviously a major commitment by the club, but one we feel strongly about.
