Metropolitan Division Weekly Roundup: Back From The Break

The Caps closed out January with a record of 6-2-1 which was strong enough to move them from third place in the division standings to first over both the Penguins and the Blue Jackets. One reason for the big push in the standings has been the Caps’ ability to score. Their biggest weakness in the past has been secondary scoring, but with players like Lars Eller being able to score eight points in 11 games the Caps haven’t had to rely on Alex Ovechkin to do all of their scoring.
