The Carolina Hurricanes have spent much of the season taking one step forward, then one step back.
That can be frustrating for a team that believes it can be in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since 2009. It’s a physical and mental hurdle that has to be cleared, and the Hurricanes may be doing it.
After a 2-1 victory Saturday over the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Canes have won four straight overall and six straight at PNC Arena.
As center Derek Ryan said, “It’s been a lot of little things adding up to the victories in the end — executing on the game plan, specialty teams being better.
