The Seattle Kraken had yet to win a game and had only scored three goals in their four previous games, but the Carolina Hurricanes were a cure for those ills as the Kraken exploded for three goals in the first period and went on to beat the Canes, 7-4 on Thursday night in Seattle.
Carolina was outshooting the home team 21-14 after one period, but went to the locker room behind 3-1.
The Canes need serious improvement from all positions as the forwards, defensemen, and goaltending all seem out of step in their own end compared to last season.
