When the Carolina Hurricanes and the Philadelphia Flyers met for the first time this season back on December 31, 2018, the two teams were tied at the bottom of the Metro Division standings with 35 points each. The Canes won that New Year’s Eve game against the Flyers and went on to post 60 points thus far in 2019.
Tonight the Canes and Flyers meet for the final game of the regular season. The Hurricanes are playoff bound. The Flyers are not. In fact, their loss to the Canes last Saturday eliminated them from the postseason.
