Facing the third consecutive season with a similar record in the standings under head coach Bill Peters, the Carolina Hurricanes do not have much to play for at this point. However, that did not stop the Canes from coming out with their best effort in a commanding March 24 road victory over the Ottawa Senators 5-2.
That win over the Sens came just after the Canes kicked off this small two-game winning streak with a 6-5 home victory over the struggling Arizona Coyotes. If not for a huge collapse through the end of the February slate, all the way up to the middle of March, the Canes could be in great playoff position right now.
