The 2019 Eastern Conference Finals could possibly go down as the toughest series loss in Carolina Hurricanes history. After upsetting the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Washington Capitals, and sweeping the New York Islanders in the second round, the Hurricanes were swept by the Boston Bruins in the final round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Bruins went on to play the St. Louis Blues in the Stanley Cup Finals; this series, opposite to the Eastern Conference Finals, was neck-and-neck the whole way. There were blowouts on both sides. Both teams played well for some games of the best-of-7 series, and both teams played terribly for others.
