General manager Ron Francis made his biggest move of the off-season by bringing over former Chicago Blackhawks goalie Scott Darling and signing him to a contract extension. The Carolina Hurricanes have been phasing Cam Ward out of the starting job for a few seasons. Yet, bringing in Eddie Lack did not help out the goaltending situation in Raleigh.
Darling has been up and down to start his tenure with the Canes. He started out with helping the Canes to a 5-4 overtime victory over the Minnesota Wild in the season opener. Since then, he’s had some good performances like a huge effort in a road win over the Calgary Flames.
