The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that they have recalled forward Warren Foegele from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League. This is the rookie’s first call up in his first professional season.
The 21-year old has burst onto the scene in the Queen City, quickly making a mark at the AHL level. He leads all rookies in goals with 21 and ranks fourth on the Checkers in points and second in goals only behind the recently recalled Valentin Zykov.
Foegele excels in the dirty areas much like Zykov. He seems to be in the right place at the right time for rebound opportunities but does have the characteristics of a streaky scorer.
