The Carolina Hurricanes were beat pretty badly last Saturday. They gave up 7 goals, 5 in the first period, to the Bruins. Boston still sits a full 10 points below the Hurricane’s next opponent; Tampa Bay. The loss, and 3 extra games by Pittsburgh, has allowed the penguins to usurp the Hurricanes of the second wild card spot. The Canes are now one point below them them and in a dogfight tie with both the Islanders and the Flyers. The good news is that they have games in hand on both of those teams.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are the top team in the NHL currently, and are favored to win both the Presidents Cup and the Stanley Cup.
